Annual Reunion

Our annual reunion was scheduled for April 2021; however, due to the pandemic we have decided to postpone it until OCTOBER 2021.   We will poll our members later in 2021 to determine the weekend that best suits the majority.  All registered members will receive details via email or U.S. mail at least several weeks in advance.  Information will also be posted on this website.

Where

In recent years, the reunion has been held in a private area at McCalls BBQ & Seafood Restaurant at 139 Millers Chapel Road in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  However, because our organization has grown significantly recently, McCall's can no longer accommodate our numbers.  We are open to suggestions for a new location, but currently the leading candidate is conference room at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, located at 1003 Sunburst Drive in Goldsboro.  Telephone:  919-778-0007.

What to Expect

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites is conveniently located just off Highway 70 at the North Spence Avenue exit and then behind the Walmart Supercenter.  If folks are interested, we will try to arrange for a block of discounted rooms there.  We will be located in their conference room, which is on the first floor to the right of the reception desk.  The room is bright, spacious, and modern.  They have some very nice round tables, each of which seats six or seven people.  We will have a formal program that includes a welcome by our president, introductions, reading of the minutes of the last meeting, reports by the president and treasurer, new business,  perhaps a video presentation, and then a talk by one or more speakers who specialize in local history.  There will also be exhibits to see, including family memorabilia items such as maps, photos, old letters, and items recovered from the site of William Whitfield II's second home at Seven Springs.  Bring anything that you have that you would care to exhibit.  We will also have lunch brought in from McCall's Barbecue Restaurant at a cost of approximately $15 per person.   The entire event should last approximately two hours, although our plan is to reserve the room for three.  We may also have either a guided tour or a self-guided tour of some of the important Whitfield sites in the Goldsboro/Seven Springs area.  The website for the Holiday Inn Express is:   https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en/goldsboro/gsbsu/hoteldetail?cm_mmc=GoogleMaps-_-EX-_-US-_-GSBSU

Who may attend?

Anyone and everyone is invited to attend.  You do not have to be a registered member.  You don't even have to be a Whitfield or related to one.
